David was born in Candia, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, the sixth of nine children to Revolutionary War soldier John Morrison (1755-6 Oct 1799) and Mary Worthen (1761-Jan 1849), who married on 23 Mar 1778.

Eleanor was also born in Candia, daughter of Capt. Benjamin Lang and Deborah Bean.

David and Eleanor married in Candia on 20 Nov 1811. They lived there until about 1822.

Around 1823, the family moved to Palermo, Waldo County, Maine. They remained there at least until David’s death in 1833. His burial location is unknown.

The information on this family’s early years come from The New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Vol. 48, pub. 1894, which traces the Morrisons back to England.

By the 1850 census, Eleanor was living with her married daughter Salome and her unmarried daughters Louisa, Mary, and Eleanor (Jr.) in Madrid, Franklin County, Maine. Her married son David was living in Madrid also.

Eleanor died in 1860, and is buried in a cemetery on Number 6 Road identified in the death record only as “#5”. This was probably Marrow Cemetery, where her son David was buried just over a month later, although it might refer to some other, now lost cemetery. To find Marrow Cemetery, head southeast out of Madrid on Route 4 about a mile and a half, crossing the bridge over the South Branch of Sandy River, and then turn right onto Number Six Road. Marrow Cemetery is about 1/10th of a mile ahead on the left. The road continues south-southwest for six or seven miles, following the South Branch.
